Our name is offered in recognition of the life-long professional efforts of Dr. Richard J. Hawkins. In 1990 he teamed with Dr. J. Richard Steadman to establish the prestigious Steadman Hawkins Clinic in Vail, Colorado. In 2004, Dr. Hawkins relocated to the Upstate of South Carolina, and along with several colleagues, established the Steadman Hawkins Clinic of the Carolinas throughout Spartanburg and Greenville.
Dr. Hawkins is recognized as one of the top orthopedic surgeons in the world. He specializes in shoulder, elbow and knee reconstructive surgery and sports medicine. He has written seven textbooks in shoulder surgery that are in use throughout the world today and has published more than 300 medical articles and educational videos. He has been listed as one of 100 of America's Best Doctors.
